Police at Old Kampala are investigating a murder incident that occurred on the evening of May 24, 2026, in Bakuli, located in Kampala Central Division, Kampala.
The deceased has been identified only as Denis, a 34-year-old boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli. According to preliminary police findings, the incident happened at around 6:30 PM following a misunderstanding allegedly linked to football rivalry.
Police say Denis, who was reportedly a supporter of Arsenal F.C., got into a heated argument with a man identified as Musiramu, who is alleged to be a fan of Manchester United F.C..
The disagreement is said to have escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly struck Denis on the head. Witnesses say the boda boda rider collapsed shortly after the assault and died instantly at the scene.
The incident caused panic among residents and nearby traders, with many expressing shock over the deadly confrontation reportedly triggered by football-related arguments. Police officers from Old Kampala responded to the scene and later transported the body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who reportedly fled the area immediately after the incident. Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the killing and to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
