The President and Commander-In-Chief of the UPDF, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will preside over the retirement ceremony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Officers due for retirement include Gen\u200b\u200b. Edward Katumba Wamala, Lt Gen \u200bCharles Otema Awany, Lt Gen\u200b Charles Angina, Maj Gen\u200b Abel Kandiho, Maj Gen\u200b Geofrey Katsigazi Tumusiime, Maj Gen\u200b Apollo Kasiita-Gowa, and Maj Gen\u200b Leopold Eric Kyanda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others are Brig Gen \u200bEdson Muhanguzi, Brig Gen\u200b Sam Omara, Brig Gen \u200bFred Zakye, Brig Gen \u200bFred Rugadya Akiiki, Brig Gen\u200b Mike Samuel Kisame, Brig Gen \u200bPatrick Mwesigye, and Brig Gen\u200b Stephen Tumwesigye Kashure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brig Gen\u200b Simon Nicholas Ocan, Brig Gen\u200b Metland K Bitumbika, Brig Gen Charles Bakahumura, Brig Gen Charles Asiimwe Kahangire and Brig Gen Cyril Mawa Muhindo complete the retirement list of UPDF General Officers for the financial year 26\/27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The retirement of the General Officers will formally close the noble send off exercise, with a total of 1,817 officers and militants retired in August 2026. The retirement cohort comprised 19 General Officers, 229 Senior Officers, 205 Junior Officers, and 1,364 Militants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Senior Officers, Junior Officers, and Militants retired this week from the Joint Services Headquarters in Mbuya and respective Services and Division Headquarters across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UPDF acknowledges and appreciates the distinguished and dedicated service of the officers and militants, who have dedicated their careers to safe guarding Uganda\u2019s sovereignty, contributing to regional peace, and upholding the values of discipline, patriotism, and Pan-Africanism.
