The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has warned aspirants in the Adjumani West by-election against violence, bribery, intimidation and other forms of electoral misconduct ahead of the party primaries.
Speaking at a press conference, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi said any aspirant found attempting to rig the elections, incite violence or manipulate the electoral process would face disciplinary action, including possible disqualification.
The Commission has also announced the updating of village party registers from 31 August to 1 September 2026, followed by Village Barazas where NRM members will scrutinise the registers and verify eligible voters.
The NRM parliamentary primary elections are scheduled for Thursday, 3 September 2026, across all 99 villages in Adjumani West Constituency.
Odoi also warned against attempts to infiltrate the party register with non-residents, particularly individuals from neighbouring Adjumani East Constituency.
He called on all candidates, party leaders and supporters to maintain peace, discipline and unity throughout the electoral process.
The Commission also extended condolences to the people of Tooro Kingdom and the Royal Family following the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
