Government reviews Food Situation in Karamoja ahead of Additional Emergency Relief

The Government has reviewed the food situation in Karamoja as it prepares to deliver additional emergency food relief to the sub-region.

The review was conducted during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon. Sam Engola, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.

The meeting brought together ministers and members of the Karamoja Development Partners Group to assess the food situation and related concerns, including nutrition and health.

The discussions come as the Government enters the final stages of delivering additional emergency food assistance to communities in Karamoja.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. John Baptist Loki, the Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. Esther Anyakun, the Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon. Lillian Aber, as well as representatives from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The meeting is part of ongoing Government efforts to assess the humanitarian situation in Karamoja and coordinate interventions aimed at addressing food, nutrition and health challenges in the sub-region.
