The Minister of State for Industry, Hon. David Bahati, has joined manufacturers and industrialists in marking the 2026 National Cleaning Day at Uganda Baati’s head office in Kampala’s Industrial Area.

Speaking after the cleaning exercise, Bahati commended the Government’s monthly initiative, saying it promotes environmental protection, patriotism and national unity by bringing Ugandans together beyond differences in tribe, political affiliation, faith and social status.

He also applauded Uganda Baati for maintaining high production standards and workplace cleanliness, noting that industries contribute significantly to Uganda’s economy. The Minister urged manufacturers to expand while protecting the environment and announced that the last Saturday of every month will be dedicated to nationwide cleaning.

Bahati further called on Uganda Baati to accelerate plans to use locally available iron ore for steel and iron sheet production, pledging Government support towards the initiative.

Uganda Baati Managing Director George Arodi welcomed the campaign, saying environmental protection remains part of the company’s culture, while calling for stronger enforcement of anti-littering laws to ensure the monthly clean-up exercises result in lasting cleanliness across the country.
